Syrian transitional government

A new government has been formed in Syria under the leadership of Ahmed al-Sharaa. 16 of the ministers in the cabinet are Muslim Arabs, while the other 4 are Christian, Druze, Kurdish and Nusra.

After the change of power, al-Sharaa stated that, unlike the Assad regime, there will be no discrimination in the New Syrian government and constitution and that they will embrace all religious and ethnic groups in the country, and for this purpose, he has allocated a place in the cabinet for minorities. However, the announced cabinet did not include the Turkmen, who are considered one of the largest ethnic minorities in Syria.

Since the nationality of people is not recorded in the population census process in Syria, the exact number of Turkmen is unknown, but according to various sources, their number is around 1-4 million. The Turkmen, who have been fighting on the opposition front against the Assad regime for years and are an integral part of Syria, are protesting because they are not represented in the new government.
